GreenFILE is a literature database concerned with the human impact
on the environment. It holds over 300.000 records describing
articles, reports and (US) government documents. GreenFILE is
multidisciplinary in character. For some journals it covers
historical volumes as well. The coverage of these, together with
reports and government documents makes GreenFILE a worthwhile
addition to large general scientific databases such as Scopus or
Web of Science.

and Technology (IET).

documents requires an individual or institutional subscription.

MathEduc is a database offering a world-wide overview of literature
on research, theory and practice in mathematics education. MathEduc
also covers education in computer science on the elementary level.
About 500 journals from all over the world are evaluated as well as
books and teaching material.

MathSciNet, published by the American Mathematical Society, offers
online access to articles from Mathematical Reviews and Current
Mathematical Publications: abstracts and reviews from 1940, and
bibliographic references from 1864.

Microsoft Academic Search (MAS) is a search engine for scholarly
publications: journal articles, conference proceedings etc., but it
does not cover books. MAS is Microsoft’s answer to Google
Scholar.
MAS offers advanced search options, graphic views of author
networks, citation data and support browsing by subject, journal,
author etc.
Coverage of humanities in particular is much smaller than that at
Google Scholar.

of free Open Archive journals. Many of these publications are not
in regular journal databases.
In principle OAIster covers all subjects. For all publications

question. These sources can also be accessed separately through the

Scopus is both a bibliographic database and a citation index in all
fields of sciences. Over 21,000 scientific journals are indexed,
and since 2013 books and book chapters are included; where possible
journals are indexed from the very first volume onwards. In the
search results you can filter by document type. Patents will be
presented separately.
Citation information is based on references in documents published
from 1996 onwards.

The Stanford Physics Information Retrieval System is the oldest and
most complete citation database for high-energy physics. SPIRES
searches journal articles, but also preprint papers and working
papers. In all it has some 750,000 records, over half of which have
full text links.

online access to over 1250 journals (including all former Kluwer
Academic journals) and ca. 30,000 of the 40,000 e-books in various
