This catalogue lists all professors who have held chairs at Utrecht University, from its foundation in 1636 until the present. The catalogue sheds some light on the history and development of Utrecht University. It offers an overview for researchers, who can trace the trends in science during any given period. Furthermore it also intends to support policy, tracking for instance the number of women at this university. And of course it helps answer questions on specific professors. The Catalogus Professorum Academiae Rheno-Traiectinae was launched on the occasion of the 375th anniversary of the founding of Utrecht University, at which point it recorded almost 2,600 professors.
