Sound and Vision houses one of the largest audiovisual collections in Europe, including more than 1.000.000 hours of Dutch television, radio, music and film material from 1898 till today. The collection is available for research in the Media Suite.

Cinema Context is an encyclopedia on film culture in the Netherlands from 1896 to 1960. The information can be found in four collections, namely films, cinemas, persons and companies.

The New York Public Library (NYPL) has a number of famous collections, such as those for the Performing Arts. To search the collection for Dance Research: in the field ‘Collection’ choose ‘Performing Arts Dance Research’ by scrolling down to almost completely below.

Free access to drama texts, mostly in Dutch. Texts may be downloaded in pdf format. The majority of the texts can be printed on demand.

The collection of cinema director and film distributer Jean Desmet consists of his business archive and more than 900 film and film posters purchased in the period 1907-1916. The archive is accessed in the Media Suite.

The Dramaturgy Database contains texts and source descriptions about dramaturgy, with specific attention for theater and dance dramaturgy. The database includes full text interviews with Dutch and Flemish dramaturges or conversations on the development in theater and dance; full text reports; article references with annotation (summary and keywords); dramaturgical files; audiovisual material.

Numbers collected by market research institute GfK on tv and radio engagement of the Dutch population are part of the collection of Sound and Vision. TV and radio ratings from 1995 onwards can be researched in the Media Suite.

Metadata and content of collections of The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, Eye Film Museum, the National Library (KB) (newspapers) and DANS (Data Archiving and Networked Services) can be searched and processed. Archives Biographiques Françaises is part of World Biographical Information System Online and contains articles from more than 600 biographical sources, published between 1647 and 2013.

Cambridge Histories Online contains over 290 handbooks on American and British history, economic history, general history, ancient history, history of science, history of the book, language and linguistics, literary studies, music, philosophy, political and social theory, regional hisory, religious studies, theatre and performing arts, and warfare.

Manual for writing and publishing in American English, with many examples for using the citation style. This version contains the 17th edition (2017) and the 16th edition (2010).

In Delpher you can search more than one hundred million from Dutch newspapers (1618 to 1995), books (16th to 20th century), journals (19th, 20th and 21st century) and radio news bulletins, 1937-1984. Text mining is possible. UU staff and students can use I-analyzer to search this corpus using queries on content and metadata. It is also possible to visualize the results.

DER is an online platform containing classic and contemporary ethnographic films, very useful to the undergraduate classroom in the field of anthropology, cultural studies or media studies. Overlaps with Ethnographic Video Online, but also contains over 200 original video’s.

Food Studies Online is an online platform for the study of food and food systems. The collection contains archives, books, posters and over 250 videos of documentaries, interviews and vintage commercials.

JSTOR offers full-text access to an archive database of ca. 700 English-language journals in various disciplines. All volumes (including the earliest) are available and can be searched in full text; the most recent years are not included in this archive due to copyright. Latino Literature brings together poetry, fiction and plays written in English and Spanish by hundreds of Chicano, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, and other Latino authors working in the United States. Furthermore Latino Literature contains resources, such as advertisements, flyers and programmes for plays. Latino Literature supports not only literature scholars, but also the study of American history, ethnic diversity, immigrations issues, and political history.
